Thriving Blind College: Summa Cum Laude
Michael was born with LCA-CRB1, a degenerative retinal disease that caused his central and peripheral vision to deteriorate rapidly. Although the public school system only expected him to achieve 70% of what the sighted students were expected to do, Michael's success mindset created a foundation of success. Michael has achieved:
Penn State University '22
Summa Cum Laude
Top 0.5% of Penn State Class of 2022 (10,000 graduates)
Employed at Disney Corporation, Live Entertainment 2022-Present
Michael is a TBA mentor and coach in our Transition from High School Program.
Your donation will help us to empower thousands more students to stay in school and graduate.
Thriving Blind Business: Blind Artist
Clarke first came to us via our Succeed Without Sight Summit. He was a passionate aspiring blind artist, but was frustrated by his country's inability to see his potential nor did they believe in his dreams. With the support of Thriving Blind Academy, he transformed into an extraordinary, successful. Clarke participated in TBA weekly mentor calls and the Thriving Blind in Business pilot program. He then achieved:
Medal of Honor from the Queen of England
Feature on 60 Second docs
Commissioned work
Ran the London Marathon (in his braille suit!
Gallery show on two continents
Clarke speaks to thousands of children all around the UK about believing in themselves and the power of accessibility.
Your donation will give access to our program for thousands more people that are blind looking to work in the jobs of their dreams.
Thriving Blind High School: Advocacy Win
Meet Kaleigh, a determined, successful student who approached us with a critical issue. The College Board was denying braille students the opportunity to take AP exams in braille. With the guidance of TBA coaches, Kaleigh embarked on a powerful advocacy journey. Using social media, she created a compelling video plea that quickly went viral. Harnessing support from fellow students and gaining the attention of the National Federation of the Blind, Kaleigh's efforts bore fruit. In less than three weeks, the College Board conceded, allowing braille exams and marking a significant win for accessibility.
Kaleigh is now at Villanova University pursuing her dreams with great success.
Your donation helps us empower individuals like Kaleigh to make a lasting impact on the blind community.
We are dedicated to empowering individuals with visual impairments to reach their fullest potential.
We believe that everyone deserves an opportunity to pursue their dreams, regardless of societal expectations.
We are transforming the current culture of pity and pitiful mindset to one where there is a clear vision of possibility and success for all that are experiencing sight loss.
Be a part of this game-changing mission for the blind community.
